Poem; "My little tree"

I would like to tell you something, because I know you can listen to me.
Do you know how important your vitamin is for me?
You have allowed me to better see, because of your high level of vitamin C.
Did you know this?

I am going to tell you a story, and then you are going to believe me.
When I was three, I could see anything, but in my garden I had a tree.
This was you, yes, you my little tree, like an angel to help me to better see.
Did you know this?

One day I took a physalis from you, I ate it and I loved it.
After that, I started to go to my garden every day to eat it.
Three years later when I bit a physalis, suddenly I could see.
I do not know how, but I could see, and you were there, my little tree.

I cannot believe the miracle you have done to me.
But I am sure it was because your high level of vitamin C.
For that reason I invite all who cannot see.
To  eat physalis as much as possible just like me.

Once upon a time a tall and thin skeleton known as Jack Skellington, was tired and bored in Halloween land, he needed something different of just yelling, ‘Boo’ one night, Jack came upon an amazing sight, where he was transfixed by one special door. Jack didn’t know it, but he fallen down In the middle of a place called Christmas Town. There, he took candies and toys and a picture of Santa with all of his elves. He picked up everything that produced small flashes of light and took it all back to Halloween where a group of Jack’s peers stared in amazement at his Christmas souvenirs. He decided to be Santa that year, he liked to say; “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!” He visited some children’s houses and gave them terrible toys, everybody there were screamed of terror, but Jack didn’t notice it because he was much too involved with his own Christmas spirit! Suddenly Jack fell on the cemetery where he was confused and filled with great grief. He heard Santa to say “My dear Jack, I applaud your intent but taking over Christmas was not a good idea”. Also Santa said Jack; “I hope you realize Halloween is the right place for you”. After that, Santa left Jack at the cemetery by saying him “Merry Christmas,” and goodbye. Jack was sad, but then, like a dream, Santa brought Christmas to the land of Halloween.

SUMMARY «Bill»

                        SUMMARY «Bill» by leney Ortiz

This tale was really catching for me, it shows the sad situation of a man who at the age of 30 lost his wife, with whom he had a baby named Minna, a little girl who was only 4 years old when that terrible situation occurred. Bill was a carpenter, he spent a lot of time on his carpenter shop located in the yard of his house, and he worked all the day sitting on his bench while Minna played in the yard with her doll and her kitten. Every night the girl prayed, kneeling in the middle of the floor with her hands folded. Two years after the Bill’ wife’s death he fell ill on a May afternoon and because of that, he had to let his little Minna go with another family in order to protect her. There are a lot of situations like this in the real life, in which a father or mother has to overcome terrible situations alone, because of different circumstances such as; money, health, time and so on. Nowadays, millions of children are abandoned for different reasons, sometimes they have good luck and are adopted by excellent families that offer them all the necessary for living happy. On the contrary, some of those children are adopted by terrible families that offend, hit, and abuse of them physically and psychologically.

HOW MUCH IMPORTANT COULD BE  LITERATURE ON LEARNING-TEACHING PROCESS.

It is possible to use literature to teach English? What activities would you like to do in your future as a teacher? Why? What population? What materials?

Literature is one of the most important aspects when teaching English, it allows students and teachers have a preconception about tales, plays, stories and poems, especially those that are considered to have value as art and not just entertainment, those that allow us to develop as much as possible the target language during the teaching–learning process. As a future teacher, I would like to implement several activities with my students, but especially “Drama” because it allows students to acquire linguistic and non-linguistic competences not only for their teaching-learning process but also for their future professional field.
Drama is a prose or verse composition that is intended for representation by actors impersonating the characters and performing the dialogue and action favoring learners’ grammar and pronunciation. It should not be regarded as merely a fun activity or role play for filling the last ten minutes of a class, but it should be regarded as a language learning approach itself. The use of “Drama” is unusual at school or at the universities, not all teachers feel ease with employing it in the classroom because of the time and space, besides, because teachers do not feel sure by using  the methods they have not been trained before for the student’s language acquisition or improvement.
Similarly “Drama” allows to find a systematic approach to education where students use their creativity at the same time that they linguistic competences such as; lexicon, grammar, phonetics, semantics, as well as voice management, body language and non-linguistic skills that help them to increase the development of the oral competence when performing, as well as writing skill when creating the script.
